Rev. John J. Ludvik Rev. John J. Ludvik
Pastor

Born to Richard and Agnes Ludvik on December 3, 1943, Fr. Ludvik was one of eight children, including his twin sister. He attended Catholic schools all his life, beginning with St. Wenceslas in Wahoo, NE, graduating in 1962. His interests as a youth included the school band, altar server, class plays, football, basketball, and 4-H.

Growing up on a farm, after high school he thought about majoring in Veterinary Science, and attended the University of Nebraska. But after a year of discernment and prayer, he transferred to Conception Seminary, Conception, MO, majoring in Philosophy with a minor in Education. In 1967, he began theological studies at St. Francis Seminary in Milwaukee, WI.

He was ordained a priest on May 29, 1971, and was assigned as assistant pastor in parishes in Nebraska. In 1979, he was made pastor and served in two parishes in that capacity in the Lincoln Diocese. In 1984, he accepted a hospital chaplaincy position at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tacoma, WA, and worked there until 1988, when he entered the Jesuits, completing the Novitiate and then completing a ThM in Spirituality at the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley, CA, in 1992, and taking spirituality courses also at Creighton University in their summer program. He then worked for a year as a chaplain at Steilacoom, WA, with the mentally ill, then moved south to Portland as a retreat master and spiritual director at Loyola Renewal Center, where he spent four years. He was then assigned to St. Jude's Parish in Redmond, WA, where he served for a year, and was then sent to St. John Vianney Parish in Kirkland, WA, where he served as Priest Administrator for two years. Fr. Ludvik was then assigned to Our Lady of Lourdes in Vancouver in 2000 as Priest Administrator. In July 2007, he became Pastor for St. Anthony and Our Lady of Sorrows.

Fr. Ludvik states, "It has been a wonderful experience to see the faith lives of so many people come together and work as one here at Lourdes. It was a privilege and a pleasure to serve the people of Lourdes for the past seven years. Many projects were completed at Lourdes which stand as a testimony to your ability to live as one and follow the call to love and serve one another. Indeed Lourdes has been a beautiful blessing to me as priest and I look forward to responding to God's call now, to serve here at the Snoqualmie and Carnation parishes."
